NEW FEATURES

Tupelo is located in Lee County in North East Mississippi.
Although a small rural town, Tupelo has many of the conveniences
that you would find in larger cities.
The Tupelo area was first settled by the Chickasaw Indians.
In 1736 the Chickasaws, armed by the British fought a fierce
battle with the invading French and Choctaw Indians.
Known as the battle of Ackia, This battle left the area in
British control and contributed to the Crown's eventual dominion
of North Amarica.
First incorporated as a city in 1870, Tupelo was named after
our native Tupelo Gum Tree. The city has achieved many
first, including the first city in North America to provide
its citizens with dependable,inexpensive electricity
through the Tennessee Vally Authority.
Today Tupelo and the Lee County area is a
manufacturing, retail and distribution center.
Tupelo is a model city with a growing population of over
36,000 offering a high quality of life and a broad range of attractions
for both residents and visitors

The Natchez Trace Parkway is open year-round for motorist,
hikers and cyclist, it provides visitors the opportunity
for an unhurried trip through time.
The Trace runs through Tupelo and Lee
County and was first established by the Chickasaws
as a trade route with the Natchez Indians to the south.
It was used as the main thoroughfare through the area from that
time, used by the British during the 18th century and
increased in inportance as settlers poured into the area.
The Natchez Trace is rich with history and is dotted with many
Historical sites and trails along its length.
When your ready to get out of the fastlane and soak in some nature
come and experience the Trace.

The city of Tupelo, Lee and the surrounding Counties
have plenty of outdoor activities especialy water sport.
with our close proximity to the many area lakes as well as the
Tenn-Tom Waterway. There's so much to mention about the area
not to mention Elvis was born here, that I simply do not
have the space here to put it all
so I have dug up some links to try and cover the area's history
and attractions more thoroughly
